What I often see is women who do it all for everyone else - fantastic parents, partners, colleagues and friends. Women who are successful in their jobs and in their life. 

But what I find is that they don't put themselves on their priority list.

The food you nourish your body with is the foundation of your health. What you put in will equal what you get out. 

Maybe when thinking about diet (which is simply the food you eat, not a weight loss plan), you may have focused on what not to eat, what’s “bad” for you, rather than focusing on what is nourishing to eat and what you enjoy.

Providing your body with optimal nutrients serves you in so many ways … energy, disease prevention, weight management, gut health, stress management, improved sleep.

The power of food is truly incredible!

2. Focusing On What Matters

 

Maybe you always thought weight loss is just about food and exercise - how much you eat vs. how much you burn off. Well of course, that’s part of it. But have you ever thought about all the components of your life and how they may be impacting your overall health and your ability to lose weight?

I like to think about a healthy body as a 4-legged stool. If one of the legs of a stool is broken, what happens? It tips over. What happens to your health when your life is out of balance? The scale tips to a place where you don’t feel your best, your digestion gets upset, you start getting some annoying symptoms, or your risk of chronic disease increases.

The 4 legs of that healthy body “stool” are eating, stress management, movement and sleep. 

Because maybe you have put everyone and everything before you, maybe the 4 legs of your stool are not solid anymore. And I will tell you that there really is no substitute for creating that balance. You can eat great all day but if you are exhausted tomorrow because you stayed up too late checking your email or staying up on social media – imbalance will happen and eating, movement and stress won’t be what they could be for you to feel amazing.

3. A Mindset Shift

 

Your brain might be putting energy into anxiety and guilt around your eating and your body. You may not even realize how much negative energy and self-talk swirls around your brain each and every day. 

Making a mindset shift is the 3rd part of your game plan.

Truly believe that you can and will feel confident and energetic. When all that negative baggage falls away you can get to a weight where you feel spectacular!

Shifting to positive thinking and noticing when your emotions and your life are getting in the way; then you can finally settle into a place where you don't have to think about your weight anymore. It's where it should be and it can stay there for good.

The challenge for you

 

Take a good hard look at where you’re at and where you want to be. Trust that you CAN and DESERVE to get to a place where you wake up feeling confident and ready to tackle the day, and you go to bed at night feeling proud that you took care of everyone and everything AND you took care of you.

Many years ago (can’t believe it’s actually been 30 since this journey began) I struggled with my own health. I woke up every day wondering how I would feel, worried about if my food would make me sick or not. I couldn’t figure out any answers, and no one seemed to be there to help me. I felt alone, embarrassed, and frustrated.

I didn’t immediately find answers. It took some years of stabbing in the dark to discover anything that made a difference for my health. 

I got to a point where I was finally fed up with guessing. It was when I was scheduled to take a business trip (worked in commercial real estate in those days). I was so terrified that I would get sick on the trip, that I  cancelled it.

At that point I decided enough was enough and I committed to getting answers.

I changed my diet and realized for the first time the true power of food. I changed my life – stress, sleep and movement. And discovered how the right balance can change everything.

And, over the next 20+ years I have had the privilege of helping people just like you to find the answers that help them to feel amazing.
